Criteria

I want to make a difference! The Moto in the Community Trust is a grant making charity. The criteria for funding is in line with the objectives of our charity.

The Trustees who manage the Trust evaluate every application for support. Applications are looked on favourably when they clearly provide opportunities for Moto People to engage in the project/proposal. It is an objective of the Trust, through the ‘making a difference’ employee volunteering programme, to offer Moto People as many opportunities as possible to get involved in the projects we support. The Trustees meet every 12 weeks.  The next meetings are schedule for;

  • February 2010
  • April 2010
  • July 2010
  • October 2010
  • April 2011

Closing date for applications to the Trust for grants or partnership activities is 10 working days prior to the Trustee meeting.

Are you eligible?

The Moto in the Community Trust looks to support a wide variety of local charity and community projects.

There are three types of grants under the Moto in the Community Trust umbrella:

  • Community Grant
  • ‘Making a difference’ Grant (employee volunteering scheme)
  • Moto Benevolent Fund Grant

Where to find usThe Community Grant Scheme is the most appropriate scheme for outside bodies wishing to approach the Moto in the Community Trust.

Due to the high volume of applications that we receive, we have established certain funding guidelines that allow our charity to focus on our key objectives. This means that we only consider grants for projects that benefit communities where Moto is present, or that we have a significant staff catchment. As a rule our catchment area is 25 miles radius of a Moto site.

We encourage applications if:

  • You are a charity or a good cause within 25 miles of a Moto service area. Click here to see our site map
  • The project you are telling us about is in line with the objectives of the Moto in the Community Trust. Click here to learn about our objectives.
  • The beneficiaries of the grant are UK based.
  • Your project involves or affects Moto staff or their families.

The Trust does not currently support:

  • Applications that are for the promotion of religion or politics
  • Overseas projects
  • Applications from animal welfare charities

How to Apply

Recommendations
Applications are looked on favourably if the applicant has built a relationship with the local Moto site and discussed opportunities for the Moto site employees to engage with the project/charity.

The application should be supported by the General Manager of the Moto service area. Preference will be given to projects which have a long term relationship with Moto, for example schools or community groups which Moto has a relationship with.

Application formThe project/charity must directly benefit the local community.

In order to apply for a Grant, you should contact the relevant Moto Service Area to introduce your organisation.  The General Manager of the Moto location will submit an application to the Trustees if the project/cause meets the criteria set by the Trust. The General Manager must agree that the project/cause is strongly supported by Moto people and can offer opportunities for Moto people to offer physical as well as the financial assistance of the Trust.

To assist the General Manager to complete the Grant Application Form, you will need to provide details of the organisation or individual which will benefit from the grant, and details of the activities of the project.

Grants are approved by the Trustees every three months. Therefore you may have to wait up to three months to receive a response to your application. Click here to find out when the next Trustee meeting is.
